SNES Debug and Test Modes

This section contains IPS patches that I made to enable various features that were never included in the final release of some games. These patches were made a while back; acheived through a lot of disassembly work (good fun! :).
But anyway, I finally thought about giving them a home! :) Enjoy!
**** NOTE **** In order for the patch to work, it specifically needs the ROM image of the country area that is stated. All requests for ROM images will be ignored (the images *are* out there...). I also don't have a decent webspace account for hosting that much...
All ROM images must be in SMC format.
All patches were tested on a real S-NES.

'Super Aleste' (Japanese)

This patch enables BG Scroll toggling, Weapon Change/Increase, Ship/Bomb Increase, screen interlace toggling, view current sprite tiles, view end credits, invincibility and stage select options.

'Paladin's Quest' (USA)


This patch enables an Monster Test Screen (Animation/Background Effects), Object Collision Disable, Stage/Map 'Warping'. I still have to find the sound test which I *know* is there somewhere! :) *UPDATE: 8th March 2000*: Thanks to an E-Mail from Kain, the soundtest was found, and it's actually hidden on the game map! 'Wagan Paradise' (Japanese)

This patch enables a programming debug screen, a stage select screen and the ability, whilst in-game, to relocate the main character.

'U.N. Squadron' (European/U.K)

This patch enables a Video-RAM Test Menu, slow-motion play and snap-shot pausing.

'Devil's Course Golf' (Japanese)

This patch simply enables a 'system check' upon startup of the game. It notes the version numbers of the S-NES hardware, checks the code block sizes (not sure), and checks the validity of read/writes to the S-NES work RAM.

'Tactics Ogre' (Japanese)

This patch enables a training mode, allowing you to set battles in any of the game's Stages. Battles can be between 1P,2P or CPU.

'Pilotwings' (USA)

Enable a stage select (including bonus levels), Aircraft debug display.
This patch also enables the Jet Heli to be selected from the craft select screen.  *Unfortunately*, the code for the Jet Heli was never finished, so expect a 'splash'! :)  But it does explain the number of heli-pads in the level designs.

'Final Fight' (Japanese)

This patch enables a Test Mode Screen, Slow-Motion, Hex Viewer, and Colour Editor (fun for 15 mins! :)

Mickey and Donald 3 (JPN)

This debug patch was kindly brought to my attention and donated by Jonny/RPGOne. This is a pretty extensive debugger and allows editing of the map data amongst other things! Be sure to check it out!
